Republic Trash Service
Update on Trash Collection during Stay At Home Order
On March 25th Governor Polis issued “Executive Order D 2020 17, ordering all Coloradoans to “Stay at Home” unless a resident is conducting a critical business activity as defined by the Public Health Order 20-24. This Public Health Order 20-24 defines “Trash, Recycle, and Compost collection, processing and disposal” as critical services that may continue to operate as normal. Republic Services continues to operate our daily collections for all customer’s as well as implementing safety precautions by having employees work from home if their position would allow. Republic has had to implement some changes to how we collect trash, recycle and compost. Below are the changes to our collection practices concerning Covid-19:
- No collection of material outside of the cart. Cart Content only for both trash and recycle. Republic Services wants to minimize any exposure to our drivers and as a result we do not want to handle any bags, cardboard boxes or loose debris.
- We have suspended all bulk collections. Again, we do not want our drivers handling materials like couches, chairs, mattresses, bundles of brush etc... Any future special events will be addressed on a case by case basis. This will depend on statewide “Stay at Home” restrictions. Republic Services will operate in compliance with any State issued requirements.
- We have suspended all yard waste collection that is outside of the cart. If this material is inside the cart, all is good.
- Recycle/Compost collection will continue as normal. If the State deems these services to not be an essential service and requires haulers to cease collection, or if recycle/compost processing facilities close as a non-essential service, adjustments will have to be made. If this situation occurs, Republic Services would offer to collect the recyclables/compost as trash to assist residents in getting rid of this material.
